The Farm at Tralee:
English country-style living with the creature comforts

Tralee is tucked away on 189 acres of picturesque meadows at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. “We’re really about hassle-free lifestyle here,” explains Paul Smiddy, owner of The Farm at Tralee. “We picked an area where it’s real quiet, it’s a slower pace.”

Tralee is tucked away on 189 acres of picturesque meadows at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. To create the secure community, Smiddy, a veteran builder and developer, teamed up with Bob Talbott of Holrob Properties.

More than half of the estate is dedicated to lush common areas: wide-open fields bordered by shady horse trails and storybook, Kentucky four-board fences.

By summer 2007, a stunning, new 20-stall barn will replace the existing six-stall barn, featuring exposed-beam cathedral ceilings, Dutch doors that open onto a wrap-around porch, staff apartments, fitness center and lounge.

With the community offering everything from full-care board to pasture-care, instruction and training, the barn manager and trainer, Katie Settlage, says the “full-care boarding, leaves you free just to enjoy riding your horse.”

Cobblestone-effect roads wind around the property and down to a stunning pavilion. Buyers will find it hard to resist its soaring butternut-stained pine beams, Honduras mahogany rails, coffee-colored exterior and slate shingle-style roof. It overlooks a cascading waterfall and fully stocked three-acre lake.

On a crisp fall afternoon, residents can curl up in a deck chair by a roaring fire in the limestone fireplace or cast a line for bass or crappie in the lake. A swimming pool and cabana is planned for next spring.

Most of the 40 lots offer captivating views of Mount LeConte to the south and House and Clinch mountains to the north. Lot sizes average two acres and start off around the $260,000 mark.

Bring your own or purchase one of the featured plans on the Web site. Imagine a craftsman’s dream of stone and cedar siding, turrets, dormer windows, shingled roofs, wrap-around porches and every home’s must-have, an outdoor fireplace.

“We don’t want a bunch of stiff houses,” explains Smiddy. “We want warmth and an Old World look.”

Down-shifters eager to live in the countryside are just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Knoxville or Sevierville.

A full-time concierge service adds another level of luxury: Make a call on Friday and you can have everything your need for your weekend getaway.

“It’s farm living; but with the concierge service, it’s the farm living that we all dream about,” says Jeremy Floyd of Holrob. “So much green space and you don’t have to maintain it.”

An invitation-only grand opening will be held Oct. 29. To schedule a viewing, call 865-342-8745 or 800-475-3292, Ext. 8745.
